CKP Pulse Plate Replacement
1. Remove the front wheels.
2. Remove the front undercover and the splash shield. Engine Removal
3. Remove the drive belt. Service and Repair
4. Turn the crankshaft pulley so its top dead center (TDC) mark lines up with the pointer. Adjustments
5. Remove the water pump pulley. Service and Repair
6. Remove the cylinder head cover. Cylinder Head Cover Removal
7. Remove the crankshaft pulley. Service and Repair
8. Remove the oil pan. Engine Oil Pan Removal
9. Support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the engine block.
10. Remove the ground cable, then remove the side engine mount bracket. Cam Chain Removal
11. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor connector, then remove the harness clamp and the dipstick tube mounting bolt. Cam Chain Removal
12. Remove the chain case. Cam Chain Removal
13. Remove the CKP pulse plate (A).
14. Install the CKP pulse plate.
15. Check the chain case oil seal for damage If the oil seal is damaged, replace the chain case oil seal.. Service and Repair
16. Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the chain case mating surfaces, the bolt, and the bolt holes.
17. Clean and dry the chain case mating surfaces.
18. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08717-0004, 08718-0001, 08718-0003 or 08718-0009, evenly to the cylinder head and the engine block mating surface of the chain case. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket. Cam Chain Installation
NOTE:
- If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
- If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.
19. Install the chain case. Cam Chain Installation
20. Install the harness clamps and the dipstick tube mounting bolt, then connect the CKP sensor connector. Cam Chain Installation
21. Install the side engine mount bracket, then install the ground cable. Cam Chain Installation
22. Remove the jack and the wood block.
23. Install the oil pan. Engine Oil Pan Installation
24. Install the crankshaft pulley. Service and Repair
25. Install the cylinder head cover. Cylinder Head Cover Installation
26. Install the water pump pulley. Service and Repair
27. Install the drive belt. Service and Repair
28. Install the splash shield and the front undercover. Engine Installation
29. Install the front wheels.
30. Do the crankshaft (CKP) pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
