CKP Pulse Plate Replacement
1. Remove the front wheels.
2. Remove the front undercover and the splash shield.
3. Remove the drive belt Service and Repair.
4. Turn the crankshaft pulley so its top dead center (TDC) mark lines up with the pointer.
5. Remove the water pump pulley.
6. Remove the cylinder head cover Cylinder Head Cover Removal.
7. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
8. Remove the oil pan Engine Oil Pan Removal.
9. Lift and support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the engine block.
10. Remove the ground cable, then remove the side engine mount bracket.
11. Disconnect the CKP sensor connector, then remove the harness clamp and the dipstick tube mounting bolt.
12. Remove the chain case.
13. Remove the CKP pulse plate (A).
14. Install the CKP pulse plate.
15. Check the chain case oil seal for damage. If the oil seal is damaged, replace the chain case oil seal Service and Repair.
16. Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the chain case mating surfaces, the bolt, and the bolt holes.
17. Clean and dry the chain case mating surfaces.
18. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08717-0004, 08718-0003 or 08718-0009, to the cylinder head and the engine block mating surface of the chain case, and to the inside edge of the threaded bolt holes. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.
NOTE:
- Apply a 1.5 mm (0.059 in) diameter bead of liquid gasket along the broken lines (A).
- Apply a 3.0 mm (0.118 in) diameter bead of liquid gasket to the engine block upper surface mating areas on the chain case.
- If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
- If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.
19. Install the chain case.
20. Install the harness clamps and the dipstick tube mounting bolt, then connect the CKP sensor connector.
21. Install the side engine mount bracket, then loosely install the mount mounting bolts and nut.
22. Install the ground cable.
23. Loosen the transmission mount bracket support bolt and nuts.
24. Remove the jack and the wood block.
25. Loosen the lower torque rod mounting bolts.
26. Tighten the side engine mount bracket mounting bolts and nut in the numbered sequence shown.
27. Tighten the transmission mount bracket support bolt and nuts.
28. Tighten the lower torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.
29. Install the oil pan Engine Oil Pan Installation.
30. Install the crankshaft pulley.
31. Install the cylinder head cover Cylinder Head Cover Installation.
32. Install the water pump pulley.
33. Install the drive belt Service and Repair.
34. Install the splash shield and the front undercover.
35. Install the front wheels.
36. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure.
