Engine Oil Pan Installation
Special Tools Required
- Universal Lifting Eyelet 07AAK-SNAA120
- Engine Support Hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256
- 2006 Civic Engine Hanger VSB02C000025
- Subframe Adapter VSB02C000016

1. Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the oil pan mating surfaces, the bolts, and the bolt holes.
2. Clean and dry the oil pan mating surfaces and the O-ring groove.
3. Install the dowel pins (A), and install a new O-ring (B) and the oil pan gasket (C) on the oil pan.
4. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08717-0004, or 08718-0009 to the engine block mating surface of the oil pan and to the inside edge of the threaded bolt holes. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.
NOTE:
- Apply a 1.5 mm (0.059 in) diameter bead of the liquid gasket along the broken line (A).
- Apply a 5.0 mm (0.197 in) diameter bead of the liquid gasket to the shaded area (B).
- If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
- If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.
5. Install the oil pan.
NOTE: Raise the oil pan carefully not to damage IMA motor (resolver stator).
6. Tighten the bolts in three steps. Wipe off the excess liquid gasket from the crankshaft pulley end and the flywheel.
7. Tighten the two bolts securing the transmission.
8. Install the lower torque rod bracket mounting bolts.
9. Install the dipstick tube (A) with a new O-ring (B), then install the mounting bolt (C) and the harness clamps (D).
10. If the engine is still in the vehicle, do the following steps.
11. Using the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) and a jack, raise the front subframe up to the body.
12. Loosely install the new front subframe mounting bolts.
13. Align the reference marks on the front subframe with the edge of the body, then tighten the mounting bolts.
14. Remove the jack and the subframe adapter.
15. Tighten the mid stiffener mounting bolts.
16. Loosely install the lower torque rod mounting bolts.
17. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
18. Remove the engine support hanger, the 2006 civic engine hanger, and the universal lifting eyelet.
19. Raise the vehicle on the lift.
20. Tighten the lower torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.
21. Connect the steering gearbox harness connectors.
22. Connect the suspension lower arm ball joints Front Lower Ball Joint Replacement.
23. Connect the front stabilizer links Front Stabilizer Link Removal/Installation.
24. Install the under-floor TWC.
25. Install the intake manifold bracket and the harness clamp.
26. Install the splash shield and the front undercover.
27. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
28. Install the steering joint bolt, then install the steering wheel Steering Wheel Installation.
29. Install the A/C compressor, then connect the A/C compressor clutch connector.
30. Install the A/C condenser fan shroud assembly Service and Repair.
31. Install the front wheels.
32. Refill the engine with engine oil Service and Repair.
33. Check the wheel alignment Service and Repair.
