Installation





2AZ-FXE LUBRICATION: OIL PUMP: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY

(a) Install a new gasket and the oil pump with the 3 bolts.





Torque : 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf)

2. INSTALL NO. 2 CHAIN SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

3. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT TIMING SPROCKET Installation

4. INSTALL NO. 1 CHAIN VIBRATION DAMPER Installation

5. INSTALL CHAIN SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

6. INSTALL CHAIN TENSIONER SLIPPER Installation

7. INSTALL TIMING CHAIN GUIDE Installation

8. INSTALL NO. 1 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR PLATE Installation

9. INSTALL TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL

(a) Using SST, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the timing chain cover edge.





SST : 09223-22010

(b) Apply a light coat of MP grease to the lip of the oil seal.

NOTICE:
* Keep the lip free of foreign matter.
* Do not tap on the oil seal at an angle.
* Make sure that the oil seal does not seep out of the timing chain cover.
* Keep the gap between the edge of the timing chain cover and the oil seal free of foreign matter.

10. INSTALL TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove any old packing (FIPG) material and be careful not to drop any oil on the contact surfaces of the timing chain cover, cylinder head and cylinder block.

(b) Apply seal packing as shown in the illustration.





Seal packing:

Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent

(c) Apply seal packing in a continuous bead as shown in the illustration.

Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent

NOTICE:
* Remove any oil from the contact surface.
* Install the chain cover within 3 minutes after applying seal packing.
* Do not start the engine for at least 2 hours after installing.

(d) Apply adhesive to the threads of bolt A.





Seal packing:

Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

(e) Temporarily tighten the timing chain cover with the 14 bolts and 2 nuts.

Bolt Length





(f) Fully tighten the bolts in the order shown in the illustration.





Bolt A - Torque : 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf)

Bolt B - Torque : 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)

Bolt C - Torque : 55 Nm (561 kgf-cm, 41 ft-lbf)

Nut - Torque : 11 Nm (112 kgf-cm, 8 ft-lbf)

(g) Using an E10 "TORX" socket, install the stud bolt to the drive belt tensioner.





Torque : 22 Nm (220 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)

20. INSTALL IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Installation

21. INSTALL IDLER PULLEY BRACKET Installation

22. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY Installation

23. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT Installation

24. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

25. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH Installation

26. INSTALL ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

27. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING STAY RH Installation

28. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

29. ADD ENGINE OIL Replacement

30. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Installation

31. INSTALL LUGGAGE TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER Installation

32. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK

33. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK

34. CHECK IGNITION TIMING Engine

35. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH

36. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

37. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

38. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL RH Installation

39. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

40. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

(a) Perform initialization procedure Repair Instruction - Initialization.

HINT
Some vehicle systems require initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
