Defroster Duct - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE: The defroster duct assembly consists of two separate ducts. The upper defroster duct is attached to the instrument panel top pad and the lower defroster duct is attached to the HVAC housing behind the instrument panel.
UPPER DEFROSTER DUCT
1. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, gently pry the defroster grille (1) from the top of the instrument panel (4).
2. Remove the two screws (2) that secure the upper defroster duct (3) to the top of the instrument panel and remove the duct.
LOWER DEFROSTER DUCT
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel assembly from the vehicle Instrument Panel - Removal.
3. Remove the two screws (3) that secure the lower defroster duct (2) and the floor distribution duct (5) to the dash panel (1).
4. Disconnect the lower defroster duct from the HVAC housing and remove the duct.
