Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover
Caution: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Remove the front bucket seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket) .
2. Remove the seat back trim panel. Refer to Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel Replacement (Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel Replacement) .




3. Remove the two seat back cushion cover screws.
4. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the retainer from the center of the seat back cushion cover.
5. Remove the seat back cover.
6. Remove the seat belt retractors from the seat. Refer to Seat Belt Replacement - Driver or Passenger in Seat Belts.




7. Remove the headrest. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement)
8. Remove the side impact air bag. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Front Seat Side Impact Inflator Module Replacement in SIR.
9. Disconnect the air lines for the seat back air bladder (if equipped).




10. Disconnect the heated seat electrical connectors to the seat back.




11. Remove all of the seat back cover J channels retaining the seat back cover and pad to the seat back frame.
12. Remove the seat cover and cushion from the seat back frame.




13. Separate the hook and loop patch (1) retaining the seat back cover to the seat back pad.




14. Remove the seat back cover from the seat back pad.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the seat back cover to the seat back foam.




2. Align the seat cover to the seat pad and secure the hook and loop patch (1) that retains the seat back cover to the foam pad.
3. Position the seat back cover and pad to the seat back frame.
4. Route the heated seat electrical connectors through the seat cushion frame.




5. Reinstall the J channels to seat back frame.




6. Connect the heated seat electrical connectors.
7. Connect air lines for the seat back air bladder (if equipped).
8. Install the front side impact air bag. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Front Seat Side Impact Inflator Module Replacement in SIR.
9. Install the shoulder belt retractors. Refer to Seat Belt Replacement - Driver or Passenger in Seat Belts.




10. Install the headrest. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement) .




11. Install the seat back cushion cover.
12. Ensure the center retainer is secured to the seat back frame.
13. Install the 2 screws.
14. Install the seat back trim panel. Refer to Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel Replacement (Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Back Cushion Finish Panel Replacement) .
15. Install the front bucket seat into the vehicle. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket) .
