Rear Bumper Cover







Rear Bumper Cover

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Socket (T40078)






Hook (T40207)

Removing






- Remove the outer tail lamp.

- Remove the cover in the luggage compartment side trim panel.

- Vehicles with a trailer hitch: Remove the cable mount. The cable remains installed in the mount. Refer to => [ Cable Mount ] Cable Mount.

- If equipped, cut the cable tie and disconnect the connector - 1 - from the parking aid control module (J446) and free up the wiring harness on the bracket for the control module - arrow -.

- Disconnect the connector - 3 - from the lane change assistance control module (if equipped).

- Press the grommet - 2 - outward.

- Remove the nut - 1 - with socket (T40078).






- Remove the bolts - 2 -.

- Remove the bolts - 1, 2 and 3 - on the bumper cover side pieces.






- Move the wheel housing liner slightly to the side and remove the bolt- 4 -.

- Insert the hook (T40207) into the opening and pull the locking rail - 5 - upward to unlock it.

- Disengage the side pieces on the side panel.

- Remove bumper cover - 6 -.

- If equipped, the wiring harness for the parking aid sensor/lane change assistance control module must be guided out through the opening in the body.

- Lay the bumper cover on a soft surface.

Installing

Gap dimensions, refer to => [ Rear Bumper Cover Gap Dimensions ] Rear Bumper Cover Gap Dimensions.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Rear Bumper Cover Assembly Overview ] Rear Bumper Cover Assembly Overview.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

- Connect electrical harness connectors.

- Install the cable mount. Refer to => [ Cable Mount ] Cable Mount.

- Install the outer tail lamp.

- Calibrate the lane change assistance control module (J769) / (J770) if the vehicle has lane change assist.
