Exhaust System, Installing

• Align exhaust system when cold.

Vehicles without double clamps between center and rear muffler

• Align exhaust system when cold.

- Loosen front double clamp bolts => [ (Item 10) Front clamping sleeve ] Exhaust System Assembly Overview.

- Push exhaust system far enough forward - arrow - until pre-load on right retaining loop at center muffler is - a - = 5 to 9 mm.





- Tighten front clamping sleeve bolts => [ (Item 10) Front clamping sleeve ] Exhaust System Assembly Overview evenly to 23 Nm.

- Align end pipes.

Vehicles with double clamps between center and rear muffler

• The rear muffler must also be aligned only on vehicles with clamping sleeves between center and rear mufflers.

- Loosen bolts of front clamping sleeve => [ (Item 10) Front clamping sleeve ] Exhaust System Assembly Overview and rear clamping sleeves => [ (Item 23) Rear clamping sleeves ] Exhaust System Assembly Overview.

- Push front part of exhaust system far enough forward - arrow - until pre-load on right retaining loop at center muffler is - a - = 5 to 9 mm.





- Tighten front clamping sleeve bolts => [ (Item 10) Front clamping sleeve ] Exhaust System Assembly Overview evenly to 23 Nm.

- Push rear part of exhaust system far enough forward - arrow - until pre-load on rear retaining loops at rear muffler is - a - = 7 to 11 mm.





- Align rear muffler horizontally.

- Tighten rear clamping sleeve bolts => [ (Item 23) Rear clamping sleeves ] Exhaust System Assembly Overview evenly to 23 Nm.

- Align end pipes.

Tailpipes, aligning





- Check distance of end pipes at left and right to bumper:

• Dimension - x - left = dimension - x - right.

If necessary, correct dimension x as follows:

- Loosen nut - arrow - of brace between exhaust pipes.





- Adjust distance between rear mufflers.

- Tighten nut to 23 Nm.

- Check distances - y - and - z - of end pipes to bumper:





• Dimension - y - = greater than 20 mm.

• Dimension - z - = 10 to 16 mm.

- If necessary, check whether exhaust system is aligned tension-free. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Installing ] Exhaust System, Installing.
