Activating The Quick Test Of The Fuel Tank System
HINT: If the quick test of the fuel tank system does not detect a leak while the hose between the canister and EVAP valve is plugged, the leak may be through the EVAP valve.
- Engine idling
Activate the quick test of the fuel tank system.
Read the battery voltage and the status for the quick test of the fuel tank system. Check the parameters as stipulated under Conditions for starting the quick test of the fuel tank system.
NOTE: The following conditions must be met in order for the quick test of the fuel tank system to be run correctly.
Conditions for starting the quick test of the fuel tank system
- Diagnostic trouble code for engine temperature sensor, atmospheric pressure sensor, outside temperature sensor, EVAP valve as well as diagnostic trouble codes for electrical fault on leakage diagnosis unit not stored.
- Engine idling
- Battery voltage must be 11-15 V.
- The status of the quick test of the fuel tank system must be "Not running".
NOTE: The battery voltage must be correct throughout the entire test. The test can take up to 10 minutes, depending on the quantity of fuel in the fuel tank.
Start the quick test of the fuel tank system by clicking the start button. Click the stop button to interrupt the test.
Check that the quick test has started by reading the status of the test phase. When the status of the test phase becomes "Reference", the test has started.
Wait until the test has completed, at which time the status of the test phase becomes "Not running" and the status of the quick test of the fuel tank system is "Completed".
If the quick test does not detect a fault, the test result for the leakage diagnosis unit and fuel tank system will be "No fault detected".
If the quick test of the fuel tank system detects a fault, the test result will be "Fault detected, minor leak" or "Fault detected, major leak" depending on the size of the leak.
HINT: Even if the result of a test is "Fault detected", the diagnostic trouble code will not be stored in the engine control module (ECM). If the same result is obtained after normal leakage diagnosis, that is to say is repeated, the relevant diagnostic trouble code will be stored in the engine control module (ECM).

1. The test result for the fuel tank system and the leakage diagnosis unit is "No fault detected".
2. The test result for the fuel tank system is "Fault detected, minor leak" or "Fault detected, major leak".
3. Leakage diagnosis is interrupted, the status of leakage diagnosis is "Blocked" or the test result for the leakage diagnosis unit is "Fault detected".
