Check the cable between the female half of the wheel sensor connector terminal 1 and the female half of the control module connector terminal:
7, the left front wheel.
5, the right front wheel.
9, the left rear wheel.
3, the right rear wheel.

Checking the brakes
- A sticking brake can block one or both wheels when the car is being driven. This will mean that the wheel sensor signal is not transmitted.
Check that the brake calipers are not sticking and blocking the wheels.
Check that the parking brake lever, cables or brake calipers are not sticking.
Check that the parking brake brake shoes and cables are correctly adjusted.

Check that the wheel sensors are installed securely against the shaft / hub. Remove any dirt between the sensor and the mating surface.
Are the wheel sensors correctly installed?

- Front wheel wheel sensors and pulse wheels: Remove the wheel.
- Rear wheel wheel sensors and pulse wheels: Remove the wheel and brake caliper according to Refurbishing rear brake caliper Refurbishing Rear Brake Caliper , Section 5 (50-59), Brakes, 1996-. Remove the brake disc according to Replacement of rear brake disc Brake Disc Rear, Replacing , Section 5 (50-59), Brakes, 1996-.
Check that the tip of the wheel sensor is undamaged.
Check that the pulse wheel is secure. Check that the pulse wheel is free of damage and scratches etc.
Check that the clearance between the wheel sensor and the pulse wheel is 0.2-1.8 mm.
Check the pulse wheel according to Checking pulse wheel lateral runout Testing and Inspection , Section 5 (50-59), Brakes, 1996-.
Are the pulse wheel and the wheel sensor OK?
Yes - Checking for interference
No - Remedy the component

- One or more wheel sensor is loose or incorrectly installed.
Front wheel wheel sensors and pulse wheels: Pull off the wheel sensor according to Front wheel sensor, replacement Front Wheel Sensor, Replacement , Section 5 (50-59), Brakes, 1996-.
Replace the damaged wheel sensor according to Front wheel sensor, replacement Front Wheel Sensor, Replacement , Section 5 (50-59), Brakes, 1996-.
Rear wheel wheel sensors and pulse wheels: Pull off the wheel sensor according to Rear wheel sensor, replacement Rear Wheel Sensor, Replacement , Section 5 (50-59), Brakes, 1996-.
Replace the damaged wheel sensor according to Rear wheel sensor, replacement Rear Wheel Sensor, Replacement , Section 5 (50-59), Brakes, 1996-.

Check that the wiring for the wheel sensors is not too near sources of interference, such as electric motors, ignition cables, mobile telephone cables etc.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Disconnect VCT 2000 so that the diagnostics are stopped.
- Ignition on.
- Test drive the car according to Test driving Test Driving.
- Stop the car. Do not switch off the ignition.
- Connect VCT 2000 to the VIDA station. Connect the VIDA station to the data link connector (DLC) in the car.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Has the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) disappeared?
