REMOVAL





















1. REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
2. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (Removal)

3. REMOVE BATTERY
4. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER





(a) Remove the 4 bolts and battery carrier.
5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE
6. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the nut from the control shaft lever.
(b) Disconnect the control cable from the control shaft lever.
(c) Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.
7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE SUPPORT





(a) Disconnect the wire harness clamp and control cable from the control cable support.
(b) Remove the bolt and control cable support.
8. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and control cable bracket.
9. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 wire harnesses.
(b) Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness clamp bracket.





(c) Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness clamp bracket.
10. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR
(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
(b) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
(c) w/o ABS:
Disconnect the speedometer sensor connector.
11. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the ATF level gauge.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts, oil cooler tube clamp and oil filler tube sub-assembly.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the oil filler tube sub-assembly.
12. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET TUBE





(a) Using SST, disconnect the No. 1 oil cooler inlet tube.
SST: 09023-38400
13. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE
(a) Using SST, disconnect the No. 1 oil cooler outlet tube.
SST: 09023-38400
14. DISCONNECT OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR
(a) Remove the foot rest.
(b) Turn back the floor carpet.
(c) Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
15. SUSPEND ENGINE ASSEMBLY





(a) Disconnect the 2 PCV hoses.
(b) Install the No. 1 and No. 2 engine hangers in the correct direction.

Torque: 38 Nm (387 kgf-cm, 28 ft-lbf)
(c) Attach an engine chain hoist to the engine hangers.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to hang the engine by hooking the chain to any other parts.

16. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS
17. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
18. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
19. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
(a) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.
(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 18 Nm (180 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)
20. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (Removal)

21. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH (Removal)

22. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH (Removal)

23. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and case protector.
24. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY





(a) Disconnect the starter connector.
(b) Open the terminal cover.
(c) Remove the nut and disconnect the starter wire.
(d) Remove the 2 bolts, and then remove the starter.
25. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Support the automatic transaxle assembly with a transmission jack.
26. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH





(a) Remove the 5 bolts, nut and engine mounting insulator LH.
27. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH





(a) Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting bracket LH.
28. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR





(a) Remove the bolt from the rear engine mounting bracket.





(b) Remove the 3 nuts, bolt and rear engine mounting insulator from the suspension member.
29. REMOVE CENTER ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the bolt and nut from the front engine mounting bracket.





(b) Remove the 4 bolts, dynamic damper and center engine mounting member sub-assembly with front engine mounting insulator.
30. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and front engine mounting bracket.
31. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET





(a) Remove the 3 bolts and rear engine mounting bracket.
32. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER
33. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Turn the crankshaft to gain access and remove the 6 bolts while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

HINT: There will be one yellowish green colored bolt.





(b) Remove the 6 bolts.
(c) Separate and remove the automatic transaxle assembly.
34. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
35. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
