Removal






WINDOW / GLASS: BACK WINDOW GLASS: REMOVAL; 2013 MY FR-S [03/2012 -]

1. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY LH Removal

2. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

5. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

HINT
Disconnect the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH to the extent that allows the removal of the luggage compartment trim cover LH.

6. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

7. DISCONNECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT INNER TRIM COVER LH Removal

8. DISCONNECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT INNER TRIM COVER RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

9. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH Removal

10. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

11. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM LID SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

12. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM LID SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

13. REMOVE REAR WINDOW SIDE GARNISH LH Removal

14. REMOVE REAR WINDOW SIDE GARNISH RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

15. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

16. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS

(a) Apply protective tape to the installation position of the back window glass on the vehicle body.









HINT
Apply protective tape to the vehicle body to prevent it from being scratched.

(b) Using a knife, cut off the moulding, as shown in the illustration.









NOTICE:
* Do not damage the vehicle body with the knife.
* If the vehicle body is damaged, repair the damaged portion by applying an anti-rust coating after removing the back window glass.

(c) Place matchmarks on the back window glass and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.









HINT
Matchmarks are not needed to be placed if the back window glass will not be reused.

(d) Disconnect the connector.

(e) Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and back window glass from the interior.









(f) Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.

(g) Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glass.

NOTICE:
* When separating the back window glass, take care not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.
* To prevent the package tray from being scratched when removing the back window glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and package tray.

(h) Using suction cups, disengage the windshield glass stoppers and remove the back window glass.









NOTICE:
* There are 2 back window glass stoppers on the back window glass, as shown in the illustration. Be careful not to damage the back window glass when cutting off the adhesive.
* To prevent the back window glass from dropping when performing this operation, be sure to hold the back window glass using suction cups.

17. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM

(a) When reusing the back window glass:

(1) Using a scraper, remove the back window glass adhesive dam.









NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the back window glass.
* Be sure to replace the back window glass adhesive dam with a new one.

18. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW MOULDING

(a) When reusing the back window glass:

(1) Using a scraper, remove the No. 1 back window moulding.









NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the back window glass.
* Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window moulding with a new one.

19. REMOVE NO.1 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER

(a) When reusing the back window glass:

(1) Using a scraper, remove the No. 1 back window glass stopper.









NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the back window glass.
* Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window glass stopper with a new one.

20. REMOVE NO.2 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER

(a) When reusing the back window glass:

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the No.1 back window glass stopper.

21. CLEAN BACK WINDOW GLASS

(a) Using a scraper, remove the adhesive tape and adhesive sticking to the back window glass.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

(b) Clean the outer circumference of the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.





NOTICE:
* Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it.
* Even if using new glass, clean it with a non-residue solvent.

22. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

(a) Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.

(1) Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body to ensure the appropriate surface shape.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

HINT
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.









Standard Dimension:





(2) Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with cleaner.

HINT
Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
