Shifter A/T: Service and Repair



Removal





1 Remove the left-hand side trim. Detach and remove clip and screw.

2 Set the selector lever to 1st. Remove the lower storage pocket in the centre console

3 Undo the two screws on the selector lever and raise the casing.

4 Remove the cover and undo the screw from the indicator cover. Remove the indicator cover. Remove the indicator lamp before fully lifting away the cover.





5 Remove the cover and the 2 screws in the front edge of the front part of the centre console.

6 Undo screw and remove the handbrake entry.

7 Detach the switch panel and remove the connector.

8 Place the front seats fully forward and undo the two bolts attaching the rear edge of the centre console. Unplug lighting connectors and lift away the centre console.





9 Push back the front seats. Remove the right-hand side trim by undoing clips and screws. Detach and remove the safety cable (airbag) from its bracket.

10 Detach the front air duct under the centre console by removing the plastic clips. Push the air duct forwards in the car and lift it away.

11 Undo the rear floor duct screws and push the duct backwards to make access easier.





12 Undo the two selector lever housing screws. Detach the selector cable and move it to one side.

13 Unplug the 3 connectors from the selector housing.

14 Undo the 4 screws in the selector housing and lift away the complete housing.





Fitting

1 Place the selector lever housing in the car. Fit and tighten the 4 screws.

2 Fit the two connectors to the indicator switches.

3 Fit the 4 pin Shift Lock connector.

4 Fit the selector cable and 2 screws on the selector housing.





5 Position the front floor duct and fit the plastic clips.

6 Fit the safety cable. Torque tighten to 0.9-1.5 Nm (0.7-1.1 lbf ft).

7 Push forward the rear floor duct and fit the front floor duct. Fit and tighten screw.

6 Fit the safety cable. Torque tighten to 0.9-1.5 Nm (0.7-1.1 lbf ft).

7 Push forward the rear floor duct and fit the front floor duct. Fit and tighten screw.





8 Fit electrical connections and place the centre console in the car. Fit and tighten the 4 screws (2 front and 2 rear).

9 Plug in the connector to the switch panel and fit the switch panel in the centre console.

10 Fit screw and cover for hand brake.





11 Fit the left-hand and right-hand side trim and the clips in the under parts of the panel.

12 Adjust the selector cable. Adjustments

13 Fit the indicator lamp in the indicator cover and fit the cover (1 screw + cap).

14 Fit the selector lever casing with the selector lever set to position 1.

15 Fit the lower storage pocket.

16 Check operation.
