Quarter Window Glass Removal
QUARTER WINDOW GLASS REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the following parts:
a. Rear package tray lid Service and Repair
b. Sub trunk Sub-Trunk Removal/Installation
c. Third-row seat Rear - Third-Row Seat Removal/Installation
d. Rear scuff plate Rear Scuff Plate Removal/Installation
e. Rear header trim Rear Header Trim Removal/Installation
f. Trunk end trim Trunk End Trim Removal/Installation
g. Third-row seat belt lower anchor installation bolt Third-Row Seat Belt Removal/Installation
h. Cargo compartment light Service and Repair
i. Trunk side trim
j. Second-row seat belt upper anchor installation bolt Second-Row Seat Belt Removal/Installation
k. C-pillar trim C-Pillar Trim Removal/Installation
l. Center guide rail cover Center Guide Rail Cover Removal/Installation
3. Apply protective tape along the edge of the body and the quarter window glass.
Not Reusing Quarter Window Glass
NOTE:
- If it is difficult to cut sealant, use piano wire and follow the procedure under "Reusing Quarter Window Glass".
1. Cut out the sealant all around the glass using a sealant remover and utility knife.
WARNING:
- Always wear gloves when using a utility knife. Using a utility knife with bare hands can cause injury.
2. Remove the quarter window glass.
Reusing Quarter Window Glass
WARNING:
1 Always wear gloves when using piano wire. Using piano wire with bare hands can cause injury.
1. Avoiding the pin on the inside of the vehicle, insert piano wire which has been cut to sufficient length.
2. Wind each end of the piano wire around a bar.
NOTE:
- Use a long sawing action to spread the work over the whole length of the piano wire to prevent it from breaking due to localized heating.
3. Secure one end of the piano wire, and while pulling the other end, cut the sealant around the quarter window glass.
4. Pull the quarter window glass outward and detach the pins from the body.
5. If a pin or spacer is damaged, remove it.
NOTE:
- Before removing the pin and spacer from the quarter window glass, place an alignment mark on the glass.
