Control Valve Body Cover Replacement
CONTROL VALVE BODY COVER REPLACEMENT [AY6A-EL]
WARNING:
- A hot transaxle and ATF can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool.
- Using compressed air can cause dirt and other particles to fly out, causing injury to the eyes. Wear protective eyeglasses whenever using compressed air.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the fresh-air duct and air cleaner component as a single unit. Service and Repair
3. Remove the air cleaner bracket. Service and Repair
4. Clean the transaxle exterior throughout with a steam cleaner or cleaning solvents.
5. Drain the ATF. Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Replacement
6. Disconnect the oil hose from the oil pipe component (transaxle side). Removal and Replacement
7. Remove the oil pipe component (transaxle side). Removal and Replacement
8. Remove the control valve body cover installation bolt.
9. Using a plastic hammer, tap the control valve body cover to remove it.
CAUTION:
- Do not damage the fitting surface of the transaxle case and the control valve body cover.
- Do not deform the control valve body cover.
10. Clean sealant and oil off the contact surface of the transaxle case with the control valve body cover and the bolt holes.
NOTE:
- Completely remove sealant and oil with white gasoline or similar.
11. Clean oil off the contact surface of the new control valve body cover with the transaxle case.
12. Apply sealant to the new control valve body cover as shown in the figure.
13. Install the new control valve body cover with new seal bolts before the applied sealant starts to harden.
CAUTION:
- Be careful that the coupler component will not become caught between the control valve body cover and transaxle case.
Tightening torque
- 10-15 Nm {102-152 kgf-cm, 89-132 in-lbf}
14. Install the oil pipe component (transaxle side). Removal and Replacement
15. Connect the oil hose to the oil pipe component (transaxle side). Removal and Replacement
16. Install the air cleaner bracket. Service and Repair
17. Add ATF. Procedures
18. Install the fresh-air duct and air cleaner component as a single unit. Service and Repair
19. Connect the negative battery cable.
20. Adjust the ATF level. Procedures
21. Perform the "Mechanical System Test". Mechanical System Test
