DTC Troubleshooting: B2989

DTC B2989:

A Problem in the A/C Compressor Motor

NOTE: Stop the engine for at least 1 hour.

1. Check the No. 22 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.

Is the fuse OK?

YES -

Go to step 2.

NO -

Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. 22 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.�

2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then turn to ON (II).

4. Do the self-diagnostic function with the HDS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

5. Check for DTCs.

Is DTC B2989 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Intermittent failure. Check for loose wires or poor connections at the A/C compressor connector (3P) and climate control unit connector B (16P).�

6. Check for DTCs.

Is DTC B2998 indicated?

YES -

Troubleshooting DTC B2998 B2998.�

NO -

Replace the A/C compressor Service and Repair.�
