Installation
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: If rear axle differential cover is not installed within five minutes after applying Mopar(R) Axle RTV Sealer, the cover must be cleaned and new sealer applied. Failure to follow these instructions may result in a leak.
NOTE: Care must be taken when applying form-in-place gasket to assure obtaining the desired results. Bead size, continuity and location are of great importance. Too thin a bead can result in leakage while too much can result in spill-over, which can break off and obstruct rear axle cooler fluid feed lines (when equipped). A continuous bead of the proper width is essential to obtain a leak-free gasket. All sealing surfaces that use form-in-place gaskets and sealers must free of grease or oil. Surfaces should be cleaned with Mopar(R) brake parts cleaner prior to sealer application.
1. With sealing surfaces of differential cover (2) and differential housing (3) clean and free of lubricant and debris, apply a 4 mm (0.157 in.) bead of Mopar(R) Axle RTV Sealer to the differential cover.
2. Loosely install nine differential cover bolts (1).
3. Tighten differential cover bolts in a criss-cross pattern to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
4. Install rear axle differential Installation.
5. Fill rear axle with 0.07 L (2.3 oz.) of Mopar(R) Limited Slip Additive and 1.3 L (43.7 oz.) Mopar(R) Synthetic SAE 75W-140 Gear and Axle Lubricant Service and Repair.
