Timing Chain & Sprockets - Installation
INSTALLATION
CRANKSHAFT SPROCKET INSTALLATION
1. Position a new crankshaft sprocket on the crankshaft with timing mark facing out. Align crankshaft keyway with slot in crankshaft sprocket.
NOTE: Lubricate the threads of crankshaft sprocket installer 9055 (1) using Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-seize Compound or equivalent, before beginning crankshaft sprocket installation.
2. Install the crankshaft sprocket with crankshaft sprocket installer 9055A (1). Seat the sprocket against the crankshaft flange.
TIMING CHAIN AND CAMSHAFT SPROCKET INSTALLATION
1. Rotate the crankshaft sprocket so the timing mark is at the 12 O'clock position (4).
2. Place the timing chain around the camshaft sprocket and place the timing mark to the 6 O'clock position (4).
3. Place the timing chain around crankshaft sprocket and install the camshaft sprocket into position.
4. Using straight edge (4), check alignment of timing marks (2,3).
5. Install camshaft sprocket retaining bolt (1) and tighten to 160 Nm (118 ft. lbs.).
6. Install camshaft phaser driveshaft (1) and rotate counter clockwise so the slot is in the 12 O'clock position.
7. Verify that the slot is in the 12 O'clock position (1).
8. Rotate crankshaft 2 revolutions. Timing marks (2,3) should line up. If timing marks do not line up, remove cam sprocket and realign.
9. Install camshaft phaser plate (1) and retaining bolts (2,3).
10. Tighten drive plate outer bolts to 12 Nm (106 in. lbs.) as shown.
11. Tighten camshaft phaser bolt (1) to 65 Nm (48 ft.lbs.).
12. Install timing chain cover Timing Cover - Installation.
