Replacement Of Rear Brake Disc






Replacing rear brake discs

Note! Minimum disc thickness = 8.4 mm.

Preparations
Remove the hub cap. Remove the wheel.

Remove the rear brake disc





Remove:
- the brake pads. See Brake pads rear, replacement Brake Pads Rear, Replacement
- the entire caliper holder including the caliper. Hang it up on a wire to avoid damaging the brake hose
- the mounting screw and the brake disc.

Note! Do not depress the brake pedal while the brake pads are removed.

Cleaning and checking brake discs and hubs





Note! Cleaning is important to prevent lateral runout at the brake disc.

Check that the hub flange is clean.
Use steel wire or a wire brush to remove any rust.
Check the hub.
Measure the lateral runout of the hub if the hub is damaged. See Measuring lateral runout in hub (front/rear) Testing and Inspection.

Installing the rear brake disc





Note! Take care with the new brake disc. Careless handling may cause damage such as out-of-true.

Install the new brake disc on the hub. Tighten the mounting screw. Tighten to 5 Nm.

Install
- the entire caliper holder including the caliper. Use new screws. Tighten to 55 Nm
- the brake pads. See Brake pads rear, replacement Brake Pads Rear, Replacement.
Check the parking brake if necessary. See Parking brake, adjusting Adjustments.
Install the wheel. See Brake pads rear, replacement Brake Pads Rear, Replacement.
