Replacing the tail lamp assembly

Position of the bulbs in the tail lamp unit




The diagram displays the left-hand tail lamp unit. The same applies, mirror imaged, for the right-hand tail lamp unit.
For the type of bulb, see Bulbs Application and ID.
1 = Tail lamp
2 = Turn signal lamps
3 = stop lamp
4 = Parking lamps
5 = Back-up lamp
6 = Fog tail lamp; (on the left in left-hand drive cars and on the right in right-hand drive cars.)

Removing the tail lamp in the D-post





Remove:
- the panel according to D-post panel D-Post Panel
- the four nuts
- the tail lamp unit.

Installing the tail lamp unit in the D-post

Reinstall:
- the new tail lamp unit. Tighten to 7.5 Nm
- the panel. See D-post panel D-Post Panel.

Hint: Check and install the seal during assembly.

Check the function.

Removing the tail lamp unit in the tailgate





Removal
Remove the tailgate panel according to Tailgate panel .

Remove:
- the 8 or 10 nuts
- 4-pin connector.
Press in the two clips (A) if possible. Carefully press the unit out of the tailgate.

Installing the tail lamp unit in the tailgate
- Check the rubber gasket
- Reinstall the unit in the tailgate and tighten the 8 or 10 nuts by hand
- Check that the clips (A) are properly secured
- Tighten the nuts. Tighten to 7.5 Nm. Start from the nut in the center
- Reinstall the panel according to Tailgate panel .

Hint: Check and install the seal during assembly.

Check the function.
