Removal and Replacement
Replacing the boost pressure control (BPC) valve
Conditions
Remove:
- the heat shield from the exhaust manifold
- the air cleaner (ACL) assembly. See Replacing the air cleaner (ACL) Removal and Replacement
- the air intake hose.
Removing the boost pressure control (BPC) valve
Remove:
- the locking pin
- the two screws (A)
- the vacuum hose from the valve
- the boost pressure control (BPC) valve. Turn the boost pressure control (BPC) valve when removing it. This will also release the vacuum hose.
Set the new boost pressure control (BPC) valve to the same setting as the old valve
Measure the length of the push rod for the old boost pressure control (BPC) valve.
Adjust the length of the push rod for the new boost pressure control (BPC) valve to the same length as the old valve.
Do not turn the valve on the shaft. This could damage the valve membrane.
Installing the boost pressure control (BPC) valve on the turbocharger (TC)
- Connect the vacuum hose and the clamp to the boost pressure control (BPC) valve
- Install the boost pressure control (BPC) over the pin and on the turbocharger (TC)
- Install the two screws (A). Tighten the screws. Tighten to 25 Nm.
Installation
- Install the air intake hose
- Install the air cleaner (ACL) assembly. See Replacing the air cleaner (ACL) Removal and Replacement.
Checking and adjusting the boost pressure control (BPC) valve
- Adjust the boost pressure control (BPC) valve. See Checking and adjusting the boost pressure control (BPC) valve on the turbocharger (TC) Adjustments.
Install
- The heat shield for the exhaust manifold.
