Removal and Replacement
Throttle body (electronic throttle module (ETM)), replacing
Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
Removing
Remove:
- Disconnect the negative battery lead. Refer to: Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting
- the dipstick tube
Remove the intake manifold between the throttle body (TB) and the air cleaner.
Caution! The wiring to the throttle body must not be cut off. The throttle body may need to returned complete.
If the wiring to the throttle body is behind the bracket for the starter motor:
Slacken off the nuts (x 2).
Remove the screw.
Remove any tie straps and disconnect the connector for the throttle body.
Route the wiring for the throttle body from the reverse of the bracket for the starter motor.
Remove the 4 x screws for the throttle body.
Installing
Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque Tightening Torque
Install:
- the new throttle body with new gasket
- the 4 x screws for the throttle body.
Position the wiring for the throttle body behind the bracket for the starter motor.
Install the screws in the cylinder block.
Tighten the two nuts and the screw.
Connect the connector and install the tie strap.
Note! If the wiring was not behind the bracket for the starter motor, it must be secured along the cable duct by two tie straps.
Install:
- the intake manifold between the throttle body (TB) and the air cleaner
- the dipstick tube
Connect the negative battery lead. Refer to: Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting
Ordering and downloading software
Note! After reloading the electronic throttle module (ETM), the engine control module (ECM) must also be upgraded.
Order software for the electronic throttle module (ETM) reloading and program the new control module. Software Downloading.
Order software for engine control module (ECM) gasoline upgrading and program the control module according to the table below. Software Downloading.
Finishing
Carry out a function test.
Set the clock.
