Tailgate wiper mechanism and motor

Preparations
- Switch on the ignition.
- Check that the wiper motor is in the parked position.
Switch the rear windshield wiper on and off.
- If the wiper motor is not functioning, see Replacing the tailgate wiper motor.
- Switch off the ignition.

Removing the tailgate wiper mechanism




- Open the wiper arm cover.
- Slacken off the nut. Unscrew it a few turns to protect the thread on the wiper mechanism spindle.
- Remove the wiper arm from the wiper arm mechanism by supporting a pipe wrench on the nut and pressing off the arm.
- Remove the wiper arm.

Replacing the tailgate wiper motor

Removing the wiper motor




- Remove the wiper mechanism. See Removing the tailgate wiper mechanism.
- Remove the cover from the tailgate wiper. See Tailgate components, changing Tailgate Components.
- Remove the cover and the nut from the shaft.
- Remove the blind cover plug.
- Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
- Remove the 2 mounting screws.
- Remove the wiper motor assembly.
- Remove the connector from the bracket.
- Remove the wiper motor from the bracket (3 screws).

Installing the tailgate wiper motor





Note! Check the rear windshield rubber for damage.Apply petroleum jelly to the inside of the rubber.

- Install the wiper motor on the bracket (3 mounting screws). Connect the connector.
- Install the wiper motor. Tighten the 2 inner mounting screws.
- Install the blind cover plug.
- Install the nut and cover.
- Connect the connector.

Note! Switch on the ignition.Check that the wiper motor is in the parked position.Switch the rear windshield wiper on and off.Switch off the ignition.

Installing the wiper mechanism




- Install the wiper arm.
- Install the nut.
- Install the wiper arm cover.
- Check the function.
- Install the cover for the tailgate wiper. See Tailgate components, changing Tailgate Components.
