Tail lamps (5 doors)
The illustration shows the lamp on the left. The same applies for the lamp on the right, mirror imaged.
For the type of bulb, see Specifications Specifications.
1= Tail lamps.
2 = Turn signal lamps.
3 = Brake lamps.
4 = Parking lamps (light with tail lamps).
5 = Back-up lamps.
6 = Fog tail lamp; (on the left in left-hand drive cars and on the right in right-hand drive cars).
Replacing the whole tail lamp unit / tail lamp on bodywork, 5-door
- Partially pull off the rubber seal
- Remove the cargo compartment lamp
- Remove the self tapping screw. Remove the panel (turn the underside forwards)
- Remove 4 nuts.
Reinstall in reverse order.
Note! Install the clips on the panel. Position and push the panel into place.

Replace the tail lamps in the bodywork, 5 door
- Remove the surround for the tailgate (carefully pull out the clips). Also see
- Disconnect the 4-pin connector
- Remove the 10 mounting nuts. Carefully remove the entire tail lamp module from the tailgate.
Installing the tail lamps in the bodywork, 5 door models
- Check the rubber gaskets
Hint: Install the rubber gaskets when installing the tail lamp module.
Install the tail lamp module. Tighten the mounting nuts by hand. Then tighten to 7.5 Nm. Start at the mounting nut in the middle
- Install the 4-pin connector
- Install the surround for the tailgate. Also
Check the function.
Model year 2000
Replace the tail lamps in the bodywork, 5 door
- Remove the surround for the tailgate (carefully pull out the clips). Also see
- Disconnect the 4-pin connector
- Remove the 8 mounting nuts. Remove the complete unit
- Press in the 2 clips. Carefully remove the entire tail lamp module from the tailgate.
Installing the tail lamps in the bodywork, 5 door models
- Check the rubber gaskets
Hint: Install the rubber gaskets when installing the tail lamp module.
Install the tail lamp module. Tighten the mounting nuts by hand. Check that the 2 clips engage
- Then tighten to 7.5 Nm. Start at the mounting nut in the middle
- Install the 4-pin connector
- Install the surround for the tailgate. Also
Check the function.
