Note! Always use new O-rings lubricated with air conditioning (A/C) compressor oil.
Note! Always plug pipes and connectors when working on the climate control system.
Preparations
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Drain the refrigerant from the system, see Draining Draining
- Remove the splashguard
- Remove the multi-groove V belt
- Protect the cooler with 999 5474 RADIATOR PROTECTION 999 5474 Radiator Protection.
Air conditioning (A/C) compressor removing
- Remove the bolts
- Disconnect the hoses
- Seal the openings carefully.
- Disconnect the connector from the compressor
- Remove the mounting screws
- Remove the compressor
- Remove the connector support
Note! If the compressor is replaced, the oil volume must be determined,
- Install new O rings on the filler plug (lubricate with A/C compressor oil) and tighten to 15 Nm
- Replace the oil even if the compressor is not replaced.
Installation
- Install the support on the connector
- Position the compressor. Tighten the bolts to 40 Nm
- Connect the connector
- Lubricate the new O-rings with compressor oil
- Install the hose. Tightening torque: 22 Nm.
Filling with refrigerant
- Vacuum pump according to Vacuum pumping Vacuum Pumping
- Fill the system with refrigerant according to Filling with refrigerant Filling With Refrigerant
- Fill the system with fluorescent tracing agent according to Filling with fluorescent tracing agent Filling With Fluorescent Tracing Agent
- Leak trace according to Leak tracing, electronic leak tracer Leak Tracing, Electronic Leak Tracer or Leak tracing with fluorescent tracing agent and an UV lamp Leak Tracing, Fluorescent Tracing Agent/UV Lamp.
Installation
- Install the new multi-groove V belt
- Install the splashguard
- Check the function
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) (ECC system).
