Badge
Replacing the badge
- Heat the badge carefully using a hot air gun
- Carefully remove the badge
- Clean any dirt and grease from the surface using white spirit.
Warning! Avoid skin exposure to white spirit.
- Remove the backing from the reverse
- Position the badge as shown in the diagram. Press the badge into place.
Replacing protective strips
- First partially remove the protective strip. Use a wooden spatula if necessary
- Carefully bend the strip away from the bodywork
- Clean grease and dirt from the panel using white spirit.
Warning! Avoid skin exposure to white spirit.
- Remove the backing from the reverse
- Position the strips. Press the strips into place.
Note! If a new front door, rear door or outer door panel needs to be installed, these have guide holes for the protective strip. The older version of edge molding can be installed; the guide holes will be covered by the molding. For optimum alignment with the front fender and/or rear edge of the front door, it is best to install the edge molding last.
Replacing sill molding
- Remove the front fender extensions (2 self tapping screws)
- Remove the three retaining clips under the sill trim
- Carefully pull off the sill molding from the front and rear bodywork.
Note! The sill molding is secured using tape.
- Slide the door trim strip forwards and remove it
- Checking the mountings
- Apply double-sided adhesive tape P/N 1160053 at the front and rear of the door trim strip
- Position the door trim strip and slide it backwards
- Install the three retaining clips.
Note! Install the front fender extensions on the front fender (use double sided tape).
Replacing the roof trim
- Remove the plugs (4x).
Caution! Carefully twist the trim up. Start at the front.
- Remove the retaining clips from the car
- Install all the retaining clips on the roof trim and press them into place
- Cut away a few millimeters of old PUR adhesive on both sides of the clips on the A-post.
Check that the paintwork is not damaged.
Touch up if necessary
- Position the trim so that it is positioned correctly in relation to the holes for the roof rack
- Press the trim in. Start at the front.
