N. Measurement Box, Signal Description

N. Measurement box, Signal description

Sphere of use
The measurement box has been designed to simplify measurements which are made on the control unit's connector, primarily when the control unit is connected during measurement.

The measurement box also permits safer and more accurate measurements, since it is easier to access the measurement locations. In addition, it minimizes the risk of unexpected short circuiting or damage to the tabs and cables in the connector.

Important!
Incorrect measurement values will be obtained if measurements are carried out with the Volvo System Tester and measurement box simultaneously.

Connection and disconnection of the measurement box

Important!
When the measurement box is connected/disconnected, voltage to the control unit must be cut so as to avoid the risk of damaging it

- Ignition off.
- Remove fuse no. 1.

- Remove the panel under the right side of the instrument panel as well as the panel in front of the right cowl side. The control unit is located on the right cowl side.

Remove the connector from the control unit.
Connect the measurement box to the control unit's connector.
^ Continue with Checking of the chassis connections N2

N2

Checking of chassis connections
- Ignition off.
Measure using an ohmmeter:
between #5 and the control unit bracket.
between #17 and the control unit bracket.
between #19 and the control unit bracket.

The ohmmeter should show approx. 0 ohms in all measurements.

If all the values are OK:
^ Return to the troubleshooting process where it was interrupted.

If any value differs:
^ Check the chassis connection at the intake manifold and the wire leading to it for signs of breakage and connection resistance according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
^ Check the ground connection between the engine and chassis.

Checking the chassis connections
- Ignition off.
Measure with an ohmmeter between 20 and ground.
The ohmmeter should show approx. 0 ohms.

If the value is OK:
^ Return to the troubleshooting process.

If the value differs:
^ Check the chassis connection on the intake manifold and the wire leading to it for breakage and connection resistance according to CD. CD. Checking of Wiring
^ Check the ground connection between the engine and the chassis.
