Test Driving [FB]







Warning: Problems with the brakes may make the car hard to control. Always test drive cars under safe, controlled conditions. Follow the appropriate traffic and speed regulations.

Quit diagnosis by switching off ignition. Start engine and watch for brake circuit warning indicator. If this comes on, do not drive car. Carry out fault-tracing as per FC. Symptoms. Symptoms [FC]

NOTE: If DTCs have been erased, the ABS warning indicator will not go out until the car's speed is over 30 km/h (18 mph), provided that no new DTCs have been posted.

- Drive at at least 40 km/h (25 mph). If ABS-warning indicator does not go out, stop car, read off and note down any DTCs which have been posted. Carry out fault-tracing as per D. DTC table. Antilock Brake System (ABS)

- If no DTCs are posted but light comes on, carry out fault-tracing as per symptoms to follow.

- Brake repeatedly down to a standstill from moderate speed on a dry, even road, including at least one braking under ABS control from a speed over 50 km/h (30 mph). Listen for any abnormal sound and check if the car is acting abnormally. Listen particularly for clicks or bangs, see if the car 'pulls' to one side or if the brake pedal does not seem to be working normally. Carry out fault-tracing as per FC. Symptoms. Symptoms [FC]

If ABS (TRACS) warning indicator comes on, stop the car, read off and note down any DTCs which have been posted. Make a note of under what driving conditions the warning indicator or lights came on. Carry out fault-tracing as per D. DTC table. Antilock Brake System (ABS)
