Short Circuit to Supply [HA4]
Short Circuit To Supply
A short circuit between a lead and supply usually means that fuse blows when power is switched on to lead or something fails to work.
Checks:
- Using a voltmeter, take readings at various points in the circuit at the same time as activating switches and sensors.
The voltage the voltmeter should read depends on which circuit is being tested and the positions of switches and sensors. Use circuit diagram to find correct supply in circuit.
- Using an ohmmeter between suspect leads to find short-circuits between them.
Ohmmeter should read infinite resistance when testing between leads which are not connected to one another in circuit.
Checking for intermittent short circuit to supply:
- Check lead visually as per HA1. Check Connections Visually [HA1]
- Shake lead gently and pull on connectors gently while testing to find where lead is damaged.
