High Pressure Pump

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removing

- Disconnect the coolant hoses - 1 and 2 - from the intake manifold.






Follow the safety measures for releasing the high side fuel pressure. Refer to => [ High Side Fuel Pressure, Releasing ] Service and Repair.

Fuel pipes are under pressure. Always wear protective eyewear and protective clothing to prevent injuries and fuel from coming in contact with your skin. Before loosening the fuel pipe, place a cloth around the connection point. Then release pressure by carefully loosening.

- Disconnect the electrical connectors - arrows - and remove the intake manifold runner control valve - A -.






- Remove the coolant pipe from the intake manifold - arrows -.






- Unclip the wiring harness - 1 -, remove the bolts - 2 and 3 - and remove the engine lifting eye.






- Remove the low pressure hose - 1 -. Remove the high pressure pipe - 2 - using the wrench socket (T10456). When doing this, counter hold the connection on the high pressure pump using a wrench.






- Disconnect the connector - A -, remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the high pressure pump - B - from the engine.






Installing






- Check the cam follower - 1 - for damage and replace it if necessary. Lubricate the cam follower and insert it correctly with its guide - 2 - into the cylinder head.

- Slowly rotate the engine using the vibration damper in engine rotation direction, when doing this, press the cam follower in the - direction of the arrow - until it reaches the deepest point in the cylinder head.

- Replace the O-rings on the high pressure pump and coat them lightly with clean motor oil.

- Install the high pressure pump and tighten the bolts - arrows - evenly.






- Tighten the connection for the high pressure pipe and low pressure hose at the high pressure pump.

High pressure pipe connection: 40 Nm

Low pressure hose connection: 28 Nm.

The low pressure hose must always be replaced because it is damaged when it is removed from the ridged connections.

The low pressure hose and high pressure pipe must not touch after being tightened. Ensure sufficient spacing.

- Install the new low pressure hose - A -. Pay attention to the installation marks and the position of the spring type clamps - arrows -.






- Install the high pressure pipe and tighten the union nuts by hand.

- Evenly tighten the high pressure pipe - A - using the wrench socket (T10456) while counter holding the high pressure pipe in the - direction of the arrow -. The high pressure pipe - A - and low pressure hose - B - must not touch after being tightened.






Tightening specification: 28 Nm

Install the engine lifting eye.
