Removal and Replacement

Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

Removing

• Intake manifold overview, refer to => [ Intake Manifold Overview ] Intake Manifold Overview.

- Pay attention to the rules of cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Fuel Supply.

- Remove the charge air pipe from the noise generator, if equipped.

- Loosen the hose clamp - 2 -.






- Remove the bolt - 4 -.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - arrow -.

- Remove the noise insulation.

- Disconnect the charge air hose by lifting the clamp - 1 - and loosening the hose clamp - 2 -.






- Seal off the connections on the charge air cooler with a clean cloth.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - and remove the charge air pipe downward.






- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - from the throttle valve control module.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the throttle valve control module.

Installing

• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Intake Manifold Overview ] Intake Manifold Overview.

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

- Clean the seal surface.

- Replace the seal.

• The position indicator on the seal must fit into the groove provided for it inside the intake manifold.

- If the throttle valve control module has been replaced, adapt the Engine Control Module (ECM) to the throttle valve control module. Refer to "Guided Functions" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.
