Shift Knob, Boot and Noise Insulation

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)

Removing

- Pull boot upward out of center console frame or carefully pry out - arrows -.






On some equipment versions, you must pry out boot at front area.

- Roll the boot up over the shift knob.






- Open the clamp - arrow - and remove the shift knob and boot.

The center console frame remains inside the center console on some equipment levels.

- In this case, pull the frame out or pry it out carefully - arrow 1 -.






- Remove the noise insulation - arrow 2 -.

Installing

- Install the noise insulation.

Installation Location, Noise Insulation:





- Arrow A - points in direction of travel.

The tabs - arrows B - must latch into the center console.

- Push the frame into the center console.

- Turn the inside of the boot toward the outside.

- Install the shift knob and boot and press the new clamp together - arrow -.






When connecting, the shift knob must engage all around in the shift lever groove.

- Push the boot into the center console frame.
