Exhaust Gas Recirculation Auxiliary Cooler
Removing
- Remove the bolt - arrow - from the exhaust pipe with catalytic converter strap.
- Remove the engine cover off the 4 ball studs one after the other - arrows -.
- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.
- Remove the bolts - 1 -, loosen the bolt - 2 - and remove the turbocharger heat shield.
- Remove the nuts - arrows -.
- Remove the exhaust pipe with catalytic converter from the turbocharger and push it toward the rear.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 -.
• Ignore - 3 and 4 -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove the rear coolant pipe from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) auxiliary cooler.
• Ignore - 3 and 4 -.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose - 1 - from the vacuum actuator and remove the EGR cooler switch over valve 2 (N381) - 3 - from the bracket.
- Remove the bolt - 2 - and remove the left rear coolant pipe from the EGR auxiliary cooler.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the EGR auxiliary cooler.
Installing
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• Replace the seals and O-rings.
- Install the left rear coolant pipe to the EGR. Refer to => [ Left Rear Coolant Pipe on Exhaust Gas Recirculation Auxiliary Cooler ] Left Rear Coolant Pipe on Exhaust Gas Recirculation Auxiliary Cooler.
- Install the rear coolant pipes. Refer to => [ Rear Coolant Pipe ] Rear Coolant Pipe.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.
