Oil Pressure at Engine Face, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342)

Adapter (V.A.G 1342/19)

Test Sequence:

- Remove the covers inside the engine compartment.

- Remove the noise insulation (=> [ (Item 14) Noise Insulation ] Description and Operation) from the cylinder heads.

- Remove the oil channel plug - A - from the cylinder bank to be tested.







The oil channel hole indicates a very low thread depth. the adapter (V.A.G 1342/19) should not be installed too tightly due to the danger of damaging the threads. Max. 14 Nm.

- Connect the oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342) with the adapter (V.A.G 1342/19) to the oil channel hole.

- Seal the test hole for the oil pressure switch on the oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342) using the engine plug.

- Start the engine.

Oil pressure must not reach below a value of 1.4 bar at 1000 RPM and 80 degrees (176 °F) oil temperature.

- After the test, install the plug - A - with a new seal.

Tightening specification 14 Nm
