Right Flange Shaft Seals

=> [ Small Seal ]

=> [ Large Seal ]

• The bevel box is removed.

Remove the bevel box, refer to one of the following:

Passat and CC, refer to => [ Bevel Box ] .

Tiguan, refer to => [ Bevel Box ] .

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)

• Seal Puller (T10397)

• Seal Puller (T10398)

• Assembly Tool (T10399)

• Thrust Piece (T10400)

Small Seal

Removing

- Install the (T10397) to the inside the seal - 2 -.





- Remove the seal.





• If the (T10397) falls out:

- Install the (T10397) again and remove the seal.

Installing

- Install the (T10399/1).





- Install the seal - 2 - onto the (T10399/1).

- Install the seal until seated using (T10399).





Large Seal

Removing

- Install the (T10398) to the inside of the seal - 1 - with at least 100 Nm of force.





- Remove the seal.





• If the (T10398) falls out:

- Install the (T10398) to the seal with 120 Nm of force.

- Remove the seal.

Installing

- Install the seal - 1 - onto the (T10400).

The spring - arrow - points away from the thrust piece.





- Drive in seal until seated

- Turn the (T10400) inside the transmission before removing it.

- Install the bevel box, refer to one of the following:

Passat and CC, refer to => [ Bevel Box ] .

Tiguan, refer to => [ Bevel Box ] .

- Check the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) level and top off if necessary. Refer to => [ Automatic Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling ] Automatic Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling.
