Oil Pump: Service and Repair
Haldex Clutch Pump
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench, 2 to 10 Nm (V.A.G 1783)
• Drip tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
Removing
- Switch ignition off.
- Place reservoir underneath.
- Remove drain plug - A - and completely drain the high performance Haldex clutch oil.
- Install drain plug - A - with new seal and tighten to 30 Nm.
- Lower rear final drive slightly. Bolt - arrow - for the final drive from mounting bracket must be loosened approximately 7 turns to do so.
- Disconnect the pump connector - arrow - from the control module.
- Remove wiring harness together with bracket - A - from housing and set aside.
- Press retaining tabs - B - together as far as possible and slide out of the housing hole.
- Hand tighten bolt - arrow - again.
- Place oil drain pan underneath rear final drive flange and remove flange.
- Remove pump bolts - 1 -.
- Pull pump - arrow - out of Haldex housing together with cable protection - 2 -.
Installing
Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:
- Replace O-rings - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Lightly coat O-rings - 1 - and - 2 - with high performance Haldex clutch oil.
- Press pump - arrow - in until seated. Make sure the cable protector - 2 - is routed correctly.
- Tighten the bolts - 1 - to the specifications.
- Remove bolts - arrow - at front mounting bracket.
- Clip wiring harness to Haldex clutch securely and connect connector - arrow - to control module.
- Install the new rear final drive to subframe bolts - arrow -.
- Fill with new high performance Haldex clutch oil and check oil level in Haldex clutch. Refer to => [ Generation II Haldex Clutch Oil Level, Checking and Filling ] Generation II Haldex Clutch Oil Level, Checking and Filling.
Tightening Specifications
