Vehicles with manual transmission




- Adjust accelerator pedal cable by moving retainer (arrow) at support bracket, so full throttle position is attained at throttle valve control module.

Vehicles with automatic transmission

Special tools and equipment
^ Multimeter Fluke (R) 83
^ VW 1594 connector test kit




- Adjust accelerator pedal cable by moving retainer (arrow) at support bracket, so full throttle position is attained at throttle valve control module.
- Release accelerator pedal.
- Disconnect 2-pin harness connector of kickdown switch -F8- in engine compartment (on the bulkhead).




- Connect multimeter Fluke (R)83 with aux. cables from VAG 1594 to kickdown switch.
- Check resistance at kickdown switch.

Specification: - Ohms
- Slowly move accelerator pedal in direction of full throttle.

Shortly after the kickdown pressure point the resistance must drop to: 0 Ohms.

At this point the accelerator pedal must be just off the stop.
