Fuel Injector: Service and Repair





Fuel Injectors, Removing and Installing


Removing

- Disconnect Spark Plug connector using tool 3277.







- Remove ignition cable ducts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Remove Positivr Crankcase Ventilation (PVC) breather valve from cylinder head cover.

- Disconnect breather hose ( to EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve ) from upper intake manifold.

- Disconnect Intake Air Duct from Mass Air Flow ( MAF ) Sensor ( G70 ).

- Disconnect harness connectors from:
- Throttle Position ( TP ) Sensor ( G69 ).
- Heater element
- Idle Air Control ( IAC ) Valve ( N71 ).
- Intake Air Temperature ( IAT ) Sensor ( G42 ).

- Detach Accelerator Pedal cable at throttle valve housing and support bracket ( do not remove cable retainer ).

- Disconnect coolant hoses from throttle valve housing and plug the connections.

- Unclip fuel lines from cylinder head cover.

- Disconnect vacuum hose from Fuel Pressure Regulator.

- Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum brake booster.

- Remove upper part of intake manifold.

- Remove Fuel Injector wiring from cable duct.

- Remove cable duct.

- Remove Fuel Injectors with fuel rail.

Note: If the Fuel Injectors are seated too securely in the lower intake manifold, carefully pry them out using a 16 mm wrench under the Fuel Injector body.

Installing

- Install in reverse order of removal.


Note: When installing Fuel Injectors, make sure that the O-rings are not or will not be damaged. To make installation easier, lightly moisten the O-rings with oil.

- Adjust the Accelerator Pedal cable.
