Removal (from 07/2011)





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback): REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Airbag System (for Hatchback with VSC/Built-in Type Yaw Rate Sensor).

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Initialization (from 07/2011).

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

4. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY Disassembly (from 07/2011)

5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 screws.





(b) Disengage the clamp.

(c) Disengage the 3 hooks A.

(d) Disengage the 3 hooks B to remove the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly as shown in the illustration.

6. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR COVER

(a) Disengage the 8 claws to remove the front passenger airbag connector cover.





7. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE





(a) Using a thin-bladed screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, 3 release the locking buttons.

(b) Disconnect the vent hole connector.

(c) Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the No. 2 instrument panel wire.
