1NZ-FE INTAKE / EXHAUST: EXHAUST MANIFOLD (for Hatchback): REMOVAL

1. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

2. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

Removal (from 07/2011)

3. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the front floor center brace from the body.

4. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

(a) Peel back the floor carpet.





(b) Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.





(c) Remove the oxygen sensor wire grommet and pass the connector through the hole to the outside of the vehicle.

(d) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs from the exhaust manifold.





(e) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs from the tail exhaust pipe assembly.





(f) Remove the 3 exhaust pipe supports and the front exhaust pipe assembly.

5. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE GASKET

(a) Remove the exhaust pipe gasket from the exhaust manifold.

6. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE GASKET

(a) Remove the No. 2 exhaust pipe gasket from the front exhaust pipe assembly.

7. SEPARATE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD

(a) Remove the bolt and the engine moving control rod.





8. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

(a) Disengage the 2 wire harness clamps and separate the engine wire harness.





(b) Remove the bolt and the wire harness bracket.

(c) Remove the 4 bolts and the No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator.





9. REMOVE MANIFOLD SUPPORT BRACKET

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and the manifold support bracket.





10. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

(a) Remove the 3 bolts, 2 nuts and the exhaust manifold.





11. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET

(a) Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket from the cylinder head assembly.
