Engine Lubrication: Testing and Inspection





1NZ-FE LUBRICATION: LUBRICATION SYSTEM (for Hatchback): ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

(a) Warm up and stop the engine, and then wait for 5 minutes.

(b) Check that the engine oil level is between the low level and full level marks on the engine oil level dipstick.

If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

NOTICE:
Do not fill with engine oil above the full level mark.

2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY

(a) Check the oil for deterioration, entry of water, discoloring or thinning.

If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.

3. INSPECT OIL PRESSURE

(a) Remove the oil pressure switch Removal (from 07/2011).

(b) Install the oil pressure gauge.





(c) Warm up engine.

(d) Check the oil pressure. If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump.

Oil Pressure:





(e) Remove the oil pressure gauge.

(f) Install the oil pressure switch Installation (from 07/2011).

(g) Check for the engine oil leaks.
