How to Proceed With Troubleshooting





STEERING COLUMN: STEERING LOCK SYSTEM: HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS

(a) Interview the customer and confirm the problem How To Proceed With Troubleshooting.

3. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE

Standard Voltage:

11 to 14 V

If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery before proceeding to the next step.

HINT
A simple method to determine whether the auxiliary battery is depleted is to operate the horn.

4. CHECK DTC*

(a) Check for DTCs and make a note of any codes that are output Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

HINT
When DTCs indicating CAN and/or LIN communication system malfunctions are output, repair the CAN and/or LIN communication systems before performing diagnosis How to Proceed With Troubleshooting for CAN and/or How to Proceed With Troubleshooting for LIN).
