SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH Removal

4. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL RH Removal

5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH Removal

6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH Removal

7. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY Removal

8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

9. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag) Removal

11. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag) Removal

12. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag)

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side Removal

13. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag) Removal

14. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal

15. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH Removal

16. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

18. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side Removal

19. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connector.





NOTICE:
When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

20. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

21. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY Disassembly

22. REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT Disassembly

23. REMOVE NO. 4 INSTRUMENT PANEL CUSHION (for TMC Made) Disassembly

24. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 screws.





(b) Lean the instrument panel as shown the illustration and disengage the 5 hooks.





(c) Disengage the 5 hooks and remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel as shown in the illustration.





25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the clamp.





NOTICE:
When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(b) Remove the clamp and instrument panel wire assembly from the front passenger airbag assembly.
