DESCRIPTION





WIRING DIAGRAM









INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Turn the ignition switch off before measuring the resistances of CAN bus main wires and CAN bus branch wires.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (ECU MAIN BUS WIRE)
(a) Disconnect the ECM connector (E5).





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN WIRE OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
(a) Check the ECM power source circuit (ECM Power Source Circuit).
Result:





C -- REPLACE ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
B -- CHECK DLC3
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK DLC3
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





Result:





D -- CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (DLC3)
C -- CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE
B -- REPAIR OR REPLACE DLC3 BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR
A -- REPLACE ECM
4. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE





(a) Disconnect the ECM main wire connector from CAN junction connector.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE JUNCTION CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE
(a) Reconnect the ECM main wire connector to CAN junction connector.





(b) Disconnect ECM connector (E5).
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BUS MAIN WIRE (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - ECM)
OK -- REPLACE ECM
6. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (DLC3)





(a) Disconnect the DLC3 branch wire connector from the CAN junction connector.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





NG -- CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - ECM)
(a) Reconnect the DLC3 branch wire connector to CAN junction connector.





(b) Disconnect the ECM main wire connector from the CAN junction connector.





(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE JUNCTION CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - ECM)
(a) Reconnect the ECM main wire connector to CAN junction connector.





(b) Disconnect the ECM connector (E5).





(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BUS MAIN WIRE (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - ECM)
OK -- REPLACE ECM
