Ignition Timing: Testing and Inspection

1. WARM UP ENGINE
- Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.





2. CONNECT TOYOTA HAND-HELD TESTER OR OBD II SCAN TOOL
- Connect the TOYOTA hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool to the DLC3.

Please refer to the TOYOTA hand -held tester or OBD II scan tool operators manual for further details.







3. INSPECT IGNITION TIMING
- Using SST, connect terminals TE1 and E1 of the data link connector 1. SST 09843-18020

HINT: After engine rpm is kept at 1,000 - 1,500 rpm for 5 seconds, check that it returns to idle speed.

- Using a timing light, check the ignition timing.

Ignition timing: 10 ° ± 2 ° BTDC @ idle
(Transmission in neutral position)

- Remove the SST from the DLC1. SST 09843-18020

4. DISCONNECT TOYOTA HAND-HELD TESTER OR OBD II SCAN TOOL, AND TIMING LIGHT
