Throttle Body: Service and Repair

THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL
1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT.
2. DISCONNECT ACCELERATOR CABLE FROM THROTTLE BODY.
3. REMOVE NO.1 INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR.
4. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR.



- Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and intake air connector.





5. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR STAY.



- Remove the 6 bolts and intake air connector stay.
- Remove the spacer.

6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY.
- Disconnect these connectors:
- Throttle position sensor connector.
- AC valve connector.

- Disconnect these hoses:



1. Vacuum hose from port P" of throttle body.
2. Vacuum hose from port "E" of throttle body.
3. PCV hose from port PCV of throttle body.
4. Vacuum hose from throttle opener.




- Remove the 4 bolts, and disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifold.
- Remove the throttle body gasket.

- Disconnect these hoses from the throttle body, and remove the throttle body:



1. Water bypass hose (from upper side of No.1 air tube).
2. Water bypass hose (from lower side of No.1 air tube).
3. Air hose (from No.1 air tube).

THROTTLE BODY INSTALLATION:
1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY.
- Connect these hoses to the throttle body:



1. Water bypass hose (from upper side of No.1 air tube).
2. Water bypass hose (from lower side of No.1 air tube).
3. Air hose (from No.1 air tube).




- Install a new gasket on the throttle body, facing the protrusion upward.



- Install the throttle body with the 4 bolts.
HINT: Different bolt lengths are used for the upper and lower sides.

Bolt length:
Upper side: 45 mm (1.77 in)
Lower side: 70 mm (2.76 in)

Torque: 19 Nm (14 ft.lb)

- Connect these hoses:



1. Vacuum hose to port P of throttle body.
2. Vacuum hose to port E of throttle body.
3. PCV hose to port PCV of throttle body.
4. Vacuum hose to throttle opener.

- Connect the following connector:
- Throttle position sensor connector.
- IAC valve connector.

2. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR STAY.



- Install the spacer.
- Install the intake air connector stay with the 6 bolts.

Torque:
10 mm head: 7.8 Nm (69 in.lb)
12 mm head: 19 Nm (14 ft.lb)

3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR.



- Install the intake air connector with the 2 bolts and nuts.

Torque: 19 Nm (14 ft.lb)

4. CONNECT ACCELERATOR CABLE TO THROTTLE BODY.
5. INSTALL NO.1 INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR.
6. REFILL WITH ENGINE COOLANT.
7. START ENGINE AND CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT.
