DIAGNOSTIC CHART

Diagnostic Chart:

Diagnosis
EGR solenoid valve does not function.
Harness connector between ECM and EGR solenoid valve is shorted or open.

Trouble Symptom
Poor driveability at low engine speeds.

CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR ECM

Input Signal:

1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Measure signal voltage between ECM and body.

Connector & Terminal Voltage
(E30) 18 - body 10 V max.

CHECK EGR SOLENOID VALVE

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Unplug connector from solenoid valve
3. Measure resistance between connector terminals of solenoid valve.

Terminals Resistance
No. 1 - 2 36 ohms @ 68°F (20°C)

CHECK POWER SUPPLY TO EGR SOLENOID VALVE

Voltage Test:

1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Measure voltage between EGR solenoid valve connector and body.

Connector & Terminal Voltage
(E16) 2 - body 10 V max.
