DTC 45321 - Left Front Impact Sensor Open Circuit
MALFUNCTION
Diagnostic trouble code 45321: FS 1 (Left Front Impact Sensor, open circuit
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. Unscrew the steering wheel airbag module and unplug the connector at the rear of the airbag. Plug reference resistor 84 71 153 into the connector.
NOTE: For cars with an airbag on the passenger's side: Remove the lower cover and unplug the passenger airbag connector H2-80. Plug reference resistor 84 71153 via cable 86 11 378 into the connector.
2. Unplug the connector at control module 331 and check pins 7, 8 and 26 of the wiring connector for continuity and/or slide-out.
3. Plug in the connector, clear the trouble code and wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition ON. Then check whether the trouble code recurs.
If the trouble code does not recur, the fault was in the connector.
If the trouble code recurs, proceed to step 4.
4. Unplug the connector from front sensor 332A and check the pins for corrosion and continuity and/or slide-out.
5. Plug in the connector, clear the trouble code and wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition ON. Then check whether the trouble code recurs.
If the trouble code does not recur, the fault was in the connector.
If the trouble code does recur, the fault is either in the wiring between the front sensor connector and the control module connector or in the front sensor.
6. Try changing the front sensor. Clear the trouble code and wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition ON. Check whether the trouble code recurs. If the trouble code does not recur, the fault was in the front sensor.
If the fault code does recur, the fault is in the wiring between the front sensor connector and the connector at control module 331. Investigate the cause. Rectify the fault or change the wiring as necessary.
