DTC 67570 - Detonators & Front Sensors Short to Ground
WARNING: To eliminate the danger of accidental airbag and seat-belt tensioner activation, the following must be carried out before fault diagnosis is begun:
^ Unscrew the steering wheel airbag module and unplug the connector at the rear of the airbag.
^ Unplug the connectors from the right-hand and left-hand seat-belt tensioners (235 and 236).
^ Unplug the connectors from both front sensors (332A and 332B).
^ For cars with an airbag on the passenger's side: Remove the lower cover and unplug connector H2-80 from the passenger airbag.
MALFUNCTION
Diagnostic trouble code 67570: Electric detonators 1, 2, 3 and 4, FS 1 and FS 2, shorting to ground
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. Unplug the connector at control module 331 and plug breakout box 86 11 006 into the connector on the wiring.
2. Take readings with a voltmeter across pin 17 and battery positive (pin 1) and across pin 18 and battery positive.
- If either of the readings shows battery voltage, proceed to step 3.
- If neither of the readings shows battery voltage, continue to take readings across pin 4 and battery positive and across pin 5 and battery positive.
- If either of the readings shows battery voltage, proceed to step 4.
- If neither of the readings shows battery voltage, continue to take readings across pin 23 and battery positive and across pin 24 and battery positive.
- If either of the readings shows battery voltage, proceed to step 4.
- If neither of the readings shows battery voltage, continue to take readings across pin 8 and battery positive and across pin 26 and battery positive.
- If either of the readings shows battery voltage, proceed to step 4.
- If neither of the readings shows battery voltage, continue to take readings across pin 27 and battery positive and across pin 10 and battery positive.
- If either of the readings shows battery voltage, proceed to step 5.
- If neither of the readings shows battery voltage, continue to take readings across pin 15 and battery positive and across pin 16 and battery positive.
- If either of the readings shows battery voltage, proceed to step 4.
- If neither of the readings shows battery voltage, proceed to step 6.
3. Unplug connector H2-52 and take a reading across pin 17 and battery positive and across pin 18 and battery positive
- If neither of the readings shows battery voltage the fault is in the contact unit. Change the contact unit
- If either of the readings shows battery voltage the fault is in the wiring between connector H2-52 and the connector at control module 331. Investigate the cause Rectify the fault or change the wiring as necessary
4. The fault is in the wiring. Rectify the fault or change the wiring as necessary.
5. Unplug connector H4-17 and take a reading across pin 27 and battery positive and across pin 10 and battery positive
- If neither of the readings shows battery voltage the fault is in the wiring between connector H4-17 and the connector at front sensor 332 B Investigate the cause Rectify the fault or change the wiring as necessary.
- If either of the readings shows battery voltage the fault is in the wiring between connector H4-17 and the connector at control module 331
6. Passenger airbag only: The fault is either in the airbag or the resistor which should then be changed
