DTC 2A - Electric Detonator 1 Resistance too Low

MALFUNCTION
DTC 2A L: Electric detonator 1, resistance too low.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. Unscrew the steering wheel center pad (airbag module) and unplug the connector at the rear. Plug reference resistor 84 71 153 into the connector.
2. Unplug connectors 335 and 59. Check that the short-circuiting contacts open when the connectors are pressed together. Plug in the connectors.
3. Clear the trouble code and wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition switched ON. Check whether the trouble code persists.
If the trouble code persists - proceed to step 4.
4. Unscrew the steering wheel center pad (airbag module) and unplug the connector at the rear of the airbag. Check pins and sockets in the connector for shorting. Plug reference resistor 84 71 153 into the connector.
5. Clear the trouble code. Switch ON the ignition. Turn the steering wheel from full lock to full lock a few times. Check whether the trouble code persists.
If the trouble code does not recur - proceed to step 6.
If the trouble code persists - proceed to step 7.
6. The fault could be in the steering wheel center pad (airbag module). To check this, reconnect the airbag, switch ON the ignition and wait at least 40 seconds to see whether the trouble code persists.
If the trouble code persists, change the airbag module.
If the trouble code does not recur - proceed to step 7.
7. Unplug connector 335.
8. Clear the code and wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition switched ON.
9. Check whether the trouble code persists.

NOTE: Diagnostic trouble code 27 can be detected in this test. In such case, disregard it. If the trouble code persists - proceed to step 12. If the trouble code does not recur the fault is probably in the contact unit.

10. Check this by plugging in connector 335. Make sure that the reference resistor is connected
11. Clear the trouble code. Switch ON the ignition. Turn the steering wheel from full lock to full lock a few times and check whether the trouble code persists. If it does, change the contact unit.
12. Unplug connector 59.
13. Clear the code and wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition switched ON.
14. Check whether the trouble code persists.

NOTE: Diagnostic trouble code 27 can be detected in this test. In such case, disregard it. If the trouble code persists, the fault is in the wiring between connector 59 and the control module. Investigate the cause. Rectify the fault or change the control module as necessary.
Before changing the control module, Programming and Relearning

If the trouble does not recur, the fault could be in the wiring between connectors 335 and 59. Check this by unplugging both connectors 335 and 59 and plugging test cable 84 71 146 into connector 59. Measure the resistance. If it is lower than 2.4 ohms, then you have found the fault.
15. Investigate and rectify the fault or change the wiring as necessary.
